The Department of Civil Engineering was Started in the year 1945 for Under Graduate Courses and extended for Post Graduate Programme in Structural Engineering in 1971. The Department has qualified faculty with excellent academic records, well-equipped laboratory facilities and computational facilities. The Laboratories in the department is a hub of activity, with large-scale experimental testing; research being conducted to develop new, resilient structural systems and innovative new approaches for rehabilitating the ageing infrastructure. These experimental facilities are complimented by various funds through AICTE-MODROBS, Part-II schemes along with state funds and TEQIP. The research is carried out on a wide range of topics in Concrete structures, steel structures, composite structures, Waste materials utilization in concrete, mechanics, numerical simulation of structures etc. The Department is actively engaged in testing and consultancy activities.
