About the Department

The Department was established in 1970 with BE programme in ECE with a mission to provide excellence in education, research and public service, to provide quality education and to make the students entrepreneur and employable and continuous upgradation of techniques for reaching heights of excellence in a global perspective. The vision of ECE department is to become a pioneer in higher learning and research and to produce creative solution to society needs. Later on, in 1981, post graduate programme in Applied Electronics and in 2003, VLSI Design programme were also started in the department. All the courses are provided as both part time and full time.

The department has total staff strength of eighteen including teaching and non-teaching staff. A bunch of well qualified and experienced professors and lecturers guide the department aiming at educating and training students with sound knowledge and awareness in the latest fields of electronics, communication and information technology. The department with the expert staffs aims at molding future scientists and researchers.

The department has two buildings with three and two floors each. For research and training activities, the department provides laboratories which include Electronic Devices & Circuits Lab, Linear / Digital Integrated Circuits Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab, Microwave Lab, Optical Communication Lab, Computer Lab, VLSI Design Lab, Analog / Digital Communication Lab and Cadence Lab.

In order to bring out the potential in students, hobby circuit clubs are conducted in the evenings. The department has signed MOU with several national companies like Texas Instruments which provide training on their embedded kits. Various workshops and trainings are frequently conducted on microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, wireless communication techniques etc. to make students aware of the present trends in the field of electronics.
